Medjugorje

On June 24th 1981, the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared to two Herzegovinian children, Mirjana Dragicevic and Ivanka Ivanković, upon Crnica hill. She took the form of a white apparition: a woman holding a baby in her arms. Too frightened to approach, however, Mirjana and Ivanka returned the following day with four peers to experience yet another apparition. Today we know them as the six visionaries, for their visions upon ‘Apparition Hill’.

Since then, there has purportedly been daily apparitions of Our Lady of Medjugorje to the visionaries, divine secrets entrusted, Mary’s life story supposedly detailed, and of course the ‘Message of Medjugorje’ spread worldwide.

Medjugorje, ‘The Lourdes of Bosnia’, has become one of the main pilgrimage sites for Catholics in Europe, with thousands of pilgrims travelling here every year.
