Your pilgrimage to Turkey will enable you to follow in the footsteps of St Paul and visit some of the greatest historical sites in the world. This journey will allow you a full insight into the achievement of these early Christian missionaries. Here, we visit the many ruins of Biblical and historical sites and places associated with St Paul.

Depart UK for Istanbul. On arrival our representative will meet us at the airport and transfer us to our hotel. Please note that on your first night accommodation will be bed and breakfast only. An official English speaking guide will accompany you to all archaeological sites during your pilgrimage.

Day 2, Istanbul

Full day tour of Istanbul, Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, Museum of Hagia Sophia, Galata Bridge, Golden Horn, Hippodrome, and Underground Water Cistern. Mass at St Anthony's Church prior to dinner.

Day 3, Istanbul/Ayvalik

Today departure from Istanbul, lunch en route before crossing the Dardanelles. Our Mass today will be held at the war memorial in Gallipoli. After Mass we take a ferryboat to cross from Europe to Asia then visit the Hellenistic city of Troy. We then travel to the region of Aeolia and spend the night in Ayvalik.

Day 4, Pergamum/Smyrna/Kusadasi

Visit the ancient site of Pergamum, one of the Seven Churches of the Book of Revelation. Mass at St Polycarp's the oldest church in Smyrna and the residence of the Archbishop. It is also one of the Seven Churches. Now called Izmir and the only living Church of the Book of Revelation. Continue on to Kusadasi where we spend the next 3 nights in our 4* hotel.

Day 5, Kusadasi

Free Morning. In the afternoon a trip to the old Greek village of Sirince. Followed by Mass at the House of the Virgin Mary overlooking Ephesus. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 6, Kusadasi/Miletus

In the morning we have an optional trip to Kusadasi Street Market for bargain shopping and a chance to mingle with the locals. After lunch we visit the ruins of Miletus where St Paul bid farewell to the elders of the Church in 57 AD at the end of his 3rd Missionary Journey. Mass at the House of the Virgin Mary. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 7, Pamukkale/Laodicea

Overnight stay in Pamukkale. Visit Laodicea, one of the Seven Churches, Hierapolis and the Travertines. Pilgrims will have a chance to swim in the thermal pool before lunch. Mass at the hotel prior to dinner.

Day 8, Sardis/Philadelphia/Kusadasi

Mass at St Polycarp's in Izmir. En route we visit Sardis and Philadelphia, two more of the Seven Churches. Return to our hotel in Kusadasi for dinner.

Day 9, Kusadasi/Ephesus

Today we visit the famous site of Ephesus, which is another of the Seven Churches of the Book of Revelation. St Paul arrived here in 52 AD. He spent 2 years here preaching against the cult of Artemis. We visit the Library of Celsus, the Amphitheatre, the Double Church of St Mary, where two Councils of the Early Church were held in 431 AD & 449 AD. We will have lunch followed by a visit to the Basilica of St John, which was built on the tomb of the apostle in the 6th century. Some free time for shopping at Selcuk Street Market. Mass at the House of the Blessed Mother before retiring to our hotel for dinner.

Day 10, Izmir/Istanbul/Home

Transfer from hotel to Izmir Airport for return flight home. (Please notify us of wishes for Mass prior to departure back home.)

Note - This pilgrimage involves much travelling by coach in order to visit the various historical and archaeological sites. All sites we visit will be the remains of churches, basilicas and synagogues dating back to the time of Saints Paul and John.
